What to wear?

Why, hello there.

It has come to my attention that there is some misunderstanding about the sequence of events in order for my Queen Stylist to get me dressed for all the places I need to make my appearance. Whether it be a debut or simple meet and greet, a return visit or otherwise.

If you have ever seen me, and you would know if you had, I am known to not be seen wearing the same dress twice. It displeases me to burst the bubble, but this is, in fact, only an illusion. Due to capitalist constraints, I actually have a finite number of dresses to play dress up with. Sigh.

It is my job, in partnership with my stylist, to pick and choose exactly when I wear my different dresses.

Riddle me this…

For an audition, like was just had, for a minor role in our local opera company’s production, one might decide to dress according to which profile?

A. Boldest and best

B. Sleek and stylish

C. Conservative and boring

D. Frilly and fussy

My best choice would be sleek and stylish. As compared to some of my other looks, it may appear as though to be conservative and boring. However, not one dress within my fabulous collection could be considered boring. This is fact.

Any of them that shine slightly less on their own than others are merely awaiting accessorization.

That is right, I invented a whole new word for this purpose.

Any garment that brings you joy, even the plainest of white button ups, or neutral-est of trousers, can be made into something significant by accessories alone.

Is this a pop of color in the belt?

Jewels in the hair or around the neck?

My favorite way to do this is with my shoes.

Although my stylist supplies my closet with the best of best, most expertly chosen gowns and A line flares, do you now understand?

I say when… I say who.

That is, who gets the opportunity to marvel at my combination for the time. It is a very complementary, exacting relationship.

My shoe library is a thing of wonder and amazement. It will never not make me smile, as you may remember.

But my outfit on the day I have in mind was as follows.

Now, do not be mislead. All black is not necessary for an audition. However, it is customary and it looks very presentable. My way to do it? With some hot Mary Janes and my best headband. Duh.

So now, I hope you never question this sacred process again. You never have to doubt my abilities to choose and Marcy’s to provide.

XOXO
